EFFORT - Diploma in Theology (DOT)
Ecumenical Faith Formation through Orthodox Reflections for Transformation - Diploma in Theology
The Diocese of UK-Europe and Africa of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (MOSC), also known as the Indian Orthodox Church, continues its mission to work for the glory of the Kingdom of God on earth. Undergirded by its faith that the whole of humanity should be united in the building up of the Kingdom of God, it envisions its dream to equip its faithful through EFFORT (Ecumenical Faith Formation through Orthodox Reflections for Transformation). The faithful are both communally and individually a part of the mission to extend the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
In line with the mission of the Indian Orthodox Church in Europe and Africa, a Diploma in Orthodox Theology (DOT) was initiated under EFFORT, aiming to cater to the spiritual needs of the Orthodox faithful who have migrated and continue to migrate from India and abroad. DOT, offered as a two-year course to broaden the theological understanding of the members of the Diocese commenced its first batch in September 2024.
The goal of DOT is to support our faith community that lives within a culture-context that differs in ideology and perspectives from the traditional language and cultural practices of Kerala. The main outcome of DOT will be the deepening of the spirit of Christian fraternity and bilateral relationships. This will have an impact on all sections of the local and wider communities. The Diocese embarks on this new initiative whilst remaining steadfast to the uniqueness of Orthodox life, liturgy, observances and traditions. It is expected to provide a deep and comprehensive understanding of the Orthodox theology, rooted in the teachings of the early Church Fathers and the rich Christian traditions of the Malankara Orthodox faith. Designed to motivate the faithful to develop skills to critically engage and foster a deeper spiritual appreciation of our faith and witness, it will focus on the formation of new leaders in all the Spiritual wings of this Diocese.
