Stoke-On-Trent St. John The Baptist Indian Orthodox Church

England, United Kingdom

Prior to 2013, the faithful in the areas of Stoke on Trent and Newcastle had to travel either to Birmingham or Manchester, over 50 miles away, to attend the holy mass. In 2013, a monthly prayer fellowship was commenced by around ten families who resided in Stoke with the blessings of the Diocesan Metropolitan. The first Holy Qurbana was conducted at St Mary’s Church in Knutton, Newcastle-Upon-Trent on 22 March 2015 with the leadership of Rev. Fr. Varghese John. Holy Qurbana has since been celebrated on the first Saturday of every month. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, all member families have been coming together for online prayers on Saturday evenings. There are at present around 25 member families as members of the Congregation. Currently, services are conducted at St. Luke Church, Hanley, Stoke on Trent. Even through several struggles, members participate actively in Holy Qurbana and prayers as well as Sunday school and MOMS meetings.
