Portsmouth St. George Indian Orthodox Church

England, United Kingdom

The Indian Orthodox congregation in Portsmouth had its humble beginnings towards the end of 2009. The first spiritual gathering was a prayer meeting held on Sunday 13th Dec 2009. This was followed by the first ever Holy Qurbana on Sat 13th March 2010 celebrated by Rev. Fr. Mathews Kuriakose. It was later on 11 September 2010 that the Diocesan Metropolitan HG Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios proclaimed the Congregation as an independent Parish. Holy Qurbana is currently celebrated on the second Saturday of every month. This is also Followed by Sunday School classes as well as Women’s Fellowship Meetings. The Prayer Group also meets every month on a second Friday in one at member’s homes.

Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Tharakan has been serving as Vicar since 2022.
