Paris (France) St. Mary's Indian Orthodox Congregation

France, Europe

The Indian Orthodox faithful in France began gathering for worship in Paris several years prior to the formal establishment of the congregation, with Holy Qurbana being celebrated once or twice a year. During this formative period, the community received invaluable pastoral support from H.E. Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios, who arranged clergy to serve the faithful and nurture the growing spiritual life of the community.

On 16 March 2024, H.E. Abraham Mar Stephanos officially declared the community as a congregation under the Diocese of UK, Europe and Africa, naming it “St. Mary’s Indian Orthodox Congregation, Paris, France.” Following its official formation, the congregation has been gathering once every two months for the celebration of the Holy Qurbana. The community has since established regular Sunday School sessions, conducts monthly prayer meetings and organizes OCYM activities. In addition, the parish feast has been celebrated annually in the month of May, in honor of St. Mary of the Harvest, after whom the congregation is named.
