Nigeria Lagos St. Stephens Orthodox Congregation

Nigeria, Africa

Although there has been a presence of the faithful of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in Central African countries from the early 1970s, it was never possible to formulate a Congregation as such. However, with the immense desire of the faithful in the region, it was in 2013, that the Congregation was formally founded. The inauguration witnessed a gathering of over 300 members of various Indian Communities. Rev. Fr. Abraham Pangattu, the first Vicar, appointed by Diocesan Metropolitan HG Dr. Mathews Mar Thimothios celebrated the very first Holy Qurbana on 1st September 2013. Rev. Fr. Gigin Baby was appointed Vicar in 2016 and he was succeeded by Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Thampan in 2019.

Rev. Fr. Jibin John Joseph has been leading the Parish since 2021.
